Me and My Big, Fat Mouth!...
So I get this email last week. “Sally” would like me to take over the company newsletter. The topic is health care compliance. No brainer; I write for the health care field and feel confident I can do “it” (whatever that is). I pick up the phone to call the prospective client. I tell her I’m sure it won’t be a problem for me to handle. (After all, how difficult can it be? It’s just a newsletter. And I LOVE newsletters!) “Great,” she says. “You’ll hear back from me later in the week to start you out with an article or two to see if we’re a good fit.” I decided to view the company’s web site to find out more about them (clearly something I should have done BEFORE I made the call). Good golly, Miss Molly! I looked at that site and realized I had NO idea what these people were talking about! They’re mentioning organizations like OSHA and Medicare & Medicaid, and talking about blood specimens and urine samples (Ewwww!) – and I’m thinking to myself: What did I get myself into? Only time will tell. I will be getting my first assignment this week, which coincidentally might also correspond with my last assignment with this company. Stay tuned…I’m sure it’ll be interesting.
